So, you’ve been publishing on Facebook, Twitter and maybe a few other social media platforms, and you’ve built up a decent following, GO YOU! Your followers are starting to engage more and more with your content Hooorahh!🎉
First of all congratulate yourself. You’re smashing it! But maybe like me, you’re wondering, “Okay, what’s next? How can I take this to the next level and double, or even triple my blog traffic? How can I use social media to really kick off my blog?”
Lets start off really simple…
ADD SOCIAL SHARING WIDGETS TO YOUR BLOG
People like things to be easy and accessible. If you make it easy for them to share, they’re more likely to do it.
Whether it’s the Tweet button at the bottom of this post or the rows of share buttons at the right corner of my blog, adopt these to your blog! As all of these allow readers to share all of your great content! You definitely need them to have any chance at increasing social sharing.
As for which buttons to include, consider your audience. Which networks are they using? Twitter is far my best traffic driver, but it may be Pinterest for you!
Example: Here are my widgets currently, I have slowly started to use Pinterest too which I love!
MAKE SURE YOUR CONTENT IS SHAREABLE
Make sure you are producing quality content, check the grammar is correct, check that it fits within your blogs niche. QUICK TIP: Before you publish your blog, think, would you share this content? Why would you share it? Make sure it ticks all of the boxes!
RE-SHARE OTHER PEOPLES CONTENT
Share posts, images, and tweets from other bloggers, and they’ll be more likely to share yours. It’s really crucial to engage with others in the blogging community. A little love and support for others goes along way.
TIMINGS: POST AFTER LUNCH
Timing is key. Especially when social media is literally SWAMPED with blog promotions 24/7 – it’s hard to get noticed. Research says people are more likely to click through and share your post after lunch – around 3pm, so to reach more people post then!. This kinda makes sense as we all have the post-carb sleepiness at work after lunch. I found this really cool infographic below that breaks down some key information on content:
Interestingly, as well as time, different days have different connotations for people. For example, starting the week off on a positive high with fitness and ending more chilled and arty.
USE RE-TWEET ACCOUNTS
I love re-tweet accounts, if you are not familiar with what they are – they were created purely to promote other bloggers posts, what absolute BABES! All you do is tag them in your post and if you’re lucky they will re-post it! I find this handy chart on Pinterest!
TIP! The larger accounts are going to be much more saturated with retweets 24/7, meaning your posts can get lost in the sea of social. So be sure to switch it up – sometimes use a larger account and sometimes use a smaller account. That way, your posts can gain more traffic!
It’s possible that readers are less likely to re- tweet and share posts with a ton of hashtags or accounts tagged, so try to use these in some of your posts but not all of them. See what works for you! And while we’re at it… don’t over do it with the self promotion. There is not a lot worse than following an account and then being bombarded with 15 – 20 blog promotions every day. Use the platform for other things not just self promotion – if your blog is about beauty, why not tweet about beauty?
I hope you liked my social media hacks! Is there any you already use? What is your favourite platform?
