KEEP A LIST OF IDEAS
There’s quite a lot of pressure that comes with sitting down at a desk with a laptop hoping something magically comes up! So my first trick is probably the easiest and most time effective blogger hack. I use my notes app on my Iphone for jotting down ideas, sometimes on the train to work, sometimes when I’m at work or even on treadmill! I can get inspired at any time and I have actually written full blog posts just on the commute home! You’d be surprised how often we can forget even our greatest content ideas so save yourself the hassle of remembering and write down all of your ideas!
ANALYSE YOUR CONTENT
I have spoken about this here….. but blog and social media analysis is one of the KEY components to a blog’s growth. If you’re feeling like you’ve hit a blogging wall, then take some time to analyse your posts, your web design, writing, photography and your different platforms. An easy way of doing this is to go over your past few months of posts. Which posts did you and your readers enjoy? What drove the most traffic? Which did YOU enjoy writing the most? Were they any that didn’t get much engagement? REMEMBER don’t be too critical on yourself in the exercise, but use it for inspiration and for fine-tuning your already fabulous content!
TAKE A BREAK
Blogging is supposed to be fun, did you forget? I think we all do sometimes. We are so hard on ourselves because we are so passionate about our platforms and if you’re anything like me, you’re a perfectionist. But don’t force yourself to churn out content you’re not truly excited about, If you’re finding your love for blogging is flagging take a break to refresh your passion. Or mix up your content, change domains or your branding. Whether it’s a morning off, a full day, a whole week, or even a little months at a time, take some time out to enjoy yourself and live life outside of the huge photo-shopped bubble of social media, and I promise that you’ll be back in love with your own little digital space in no time at all.
ASK YOUR READERS
Twitter polls are where it’s at! I think it’s a great way to engage with your followers and ask them what they love on your channel! This is perfect for times when you’re in a rut or have no clue where your blog is going. I’ve definitely done this before and it’s really helped me refocus my content. See my example below:
START SOMETHING DIFFERENT!
A change is as good as a rest! If you have been investing all of your energy on to your main channels such as your blog and Instagram – why not try and focus on a different platform to increase engagement in a different way, such as Pinterest or even YouTube. These can all act as an extension of your blog – use your creativity in different ways to re-boot your love for the digital world, who knows you may learn that you actually prefer another platform, so what are you waiting for!
