My top 5 books to help you become a girl boss & kill it in your career.

My daily career bibles on how to kick ass in business and life.

Lets face it, women are on top of their game, business, kids, money, men? We’ve got it covered! (Just about). But that doesn’t make it easy, that’s why I absolutely LOVE these books and I cannot recommend them enough to help you to become the best version of YOU. I have them all on my kindle and regularly revisit them THEY ARE THAT GOOD.

Keep up to date and follow me on Bloglovin! 🙂

My top 5 books are gold dust for women on their way to the top – insightful, inspiring, and hilarious books for girl bosses everywhere.

Sophia Amoruso

NastyGal Founder – this woman is beyond inspiring – her relentless quest to be herself in a world that tries to keep you in a box led to her building her empire. I love this book. Every girl who doesn’t feel like she quite fits in, or has a dream that makes others look at her like she is crazy – this book is for you. Do not, under ANY circumstance give up.

Fave quote: “Each time you make a good decision or do something nice or take care of yourself; each time you show up to work and work hard and do your best at everything you can do, you’re planting seeds for a life that you can only hope will grow beyond your wildest dreams”. Sophia Amoruso

If You Have to Cry, Go Outside: And Other Things Your Mother Never Told You

Kelly Cutrone,

My sister brought this for me as a present before I delved in to the big bad corporate world post–graduation. Business isn’t pretty, and no one’s going to wipe those tears for you girl so you better WERK. You may recognise the author from her time on The Hills – Kelly single handily built her fashion PR empire from scratch. A no-nonsense guide to girls in business and life, very inspiring and living proof failure doesn’t mean the end of the world (even in fashion!).

Fave quote: “If you want to be EXTRA-ordinary- you will not get there by hanging around a bunch of people who tell you you’re not extraordinary”.

Kelly Cutrone,

Leave Your Mark: Land your dream job. Kill it in your career. Rock social media.

Aliza Licht

I love this book, it helped me in many ways in my career path, in fact it helped me decide to quit my job I was unhappy in – just like Aliza – a former medicine student turned former PR and social media queen of DKNY. It’s a step by step guide to making it in business and building the personal brand of YOU.

Fave quote:INSIDER TIP: If you have no one to show you the ropes, you have to build a ladder.”

Confessions of a Fashionista

Angela Clarke

Hilariously funny and insightful, this book delves in to the scary and intimidating world that is – the fashion industry in London. For anyone who’s ever been an outsider, this book is a tell-all real life story for anyone who’s ever had a relationship end badly, and for anyone who thinks that cakes were made to be eaten, not sniffed (I’m looking at you fashion girlies)!

Fave quote: “The only rule is don’t be boring and dress cute wherever you go. Life is too short to blend in.” PARIS HILTON

Mindy Kaling Why not me?

The title speaks for itself. Why not you? Why CAN’T you make it? Mindy’s honesty and hilarity genuinely inspires me, and as a female she bombarded through the concrete wall that is Hollywood and landed herself her very own show – The Mindy Project. Plus she is absolutely hilarious. I love this woman, and this book and everything she stands for.

Fave quote: “If you believe in yourself and work hard, you have a fighting shot at having your dreams come true”. Mindy Kaling

So there they are, my top 5 career-focused books. What I love about these books, is that they aren’t formal, corporate business guides – but they are extremely insightful. They really delve into the struggle of females trying to juggle life in the 21st century, spiritually, mentally and physically – not just in business but in their every day world.

So what are you waiting for girls? Get reading! Knowledge is power! Keep grinding and doing you!
